Native Landscaping Initiative

Support the purchase of plants to help reduce resource use and increase wildlife.

Funds Needed to Complete this Native Plants Initiative

This project is the result of Savannah Fields’ Douglas Honor’s College Thesis, in which she planned native gardens for Dean Hall. Native plants improve biodiversity, use less water, do not require pesticides, and need less maintenance. The resultant gardens will be utilized as an outdoor classroom for Environmental Studies classes.

For this project, plants for the east side of Dean Hall have already been funded, and will be planted with volunteer labor on Earth Day 2021. $2,400 is needed to purchase plants for the north and south side of Dean Hall, plus an additional $4,300 in labor ($6,700 total).
