Beloved Central Washington University music professor Maria Roditeleva-Wibe recently passed away after working at the university for more than 20 years, making an everlasting impact on thousands of students.
There is currently a naming opportunity to dedicate a practice room in the music building to Dr. Wibe, which these funds will support. Additional support will be used for equipment upgrades in piano practice rooms, piano student travel, and expanding into new curriculum of collaborative piano.
From very early on in her life Dr. Wibe loved music. She attended a school for musically gifted children and after graduating from a regional conservatory in Bashkivia, she went on to earn a doctorate in ethnomusicology (world music) in Saint Petersburg, specializing in Russian folk music.
She inspired countless students to chase their dreams and always pushed them to do better. She will be greatly missed by the CWU family, but her legacy will live on.
