Removing financial barriers to health and healthcare training opportunities
Training Tomorrow’s Healthcare Workforce
Mission: The Department of Health Sciences aims to resolve the unmet health and healthcare needs of many of our communities by preparing students to address critical challenges in a variety of health & healthcare related fields and professions.
Why: Real-world hands-on experiences (e.g., field experience / internships) provide the opportunity for students to work directly with health and healthcare providers and their patients or clients. Not only do these experiences allow students to translate on-campus learning to “real world” practice, but these experiences are often necessary for students to become eligible to apply to professional programs, such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, nursing, etc., obtain certifications, and work towards licensure. This project is focused to reduce financial barriers for our students pursuing these important experiences by helping to offset costs, such as travel.
Goal: Our goal over the next year is to support 50 students pursuing such experiences, by providing these students with a $100 scholarship. Your contribution to this fund will open up new avenues for our students to begin to build their professional resumes and initiate the development of their own network of practicing professionals.
Your support removes financial barriers to essential hands‑on experiences, empowering students to gain critical skills and step confidently into healthcare careers that serve our communities!
